I welcome you warmly to the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing at Georgia Southern University (AEPCEC). As I take charge as the dean of the college effective July 1, 2026, I reflect on the honor and privilege to serve alongside its outstanding faculty and staff in support of the 4,600 undergraduate and graduate students who call AEPCEC their professional home.
We live in an exciting and rapidly evolving time. Our graduates are stepping into a dynamic world where the phrase “the only constant is change” is not just a concept, but an empowering reality. I want to assure you that my colleagues and I will leave no stone unturned to ensure the students in our charge are ready to hit the ground running on the first day they join the workforce to become tomorrow’s leaders in the private and public sector as well as academia.
The College offers innovative undergraduate programs in both engineering and computing, alongside accelerated early-entry master’s programs that allow students to earn both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in just five years. We are also proud to offer two distinct Ph.D. programs in engineering and in computing. These academic paths are fully integrated with our future-ready facilities and specialized research labs, which serve as essential pieces of the overall student learning experience.
This comprehensive preparation extends far beyond the learning that happens inside the classroom. Students have numerous opportunities to organically develop essential leadership and collaborative skills when they join one of our many professional student clubs. They also have access to paid internships with employers in the region as well as research opportunities right here in the College. Our goal is to have students graduate with not only outstanding technical skills but excellent communication skills.
Knowing that engineering and computing professionals will go on to become leaders in their profession, we expose students to the principles of operating a business as well as exposure to public policy. In fact, we will not stop there! Through the mentoring students receive in the College, they will learn that successful leaders in their profession are typically passionate about improving the quality of life in their communities. Our graduates will be globally aware, but regionally focused, on contributing to the development and progress within their communities.
Through the range of academic programs and access to numerous internships, research experiences and participation in student clubs within the college, graduates are well- prepared to join the workforce and especially, contribute to economic development in coastal and southern Georgia.
